King Charles arrived in Rome for his first overseas trip after his days in the hospital.

King Charles III traveled with Queen Camilla on a four-day visit that includes the first speech by a British monarch to the Italian Parliament. Following a brief hospitalization after a cancer diagnosis, Charles made his first overseas trip to Italy on Monday. Along with Queen Camilla, he will meet with the President and Prime Minister of Italy and participate in a program to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Ravenna on the Adriatic coast by Allied forces. It is expected that Charles will emphasize the close ties between NATO allies England and Italy during a time when European countries are trying to support Ukraine in its struggle against the Russian invasion. A planned meeting with Pope Francis was postponed by mutual agreement due to the Pope's recent bout with double pneumonia. The 88-year-old Pope returned to the Vatican two weeks ago and appeared before the public in St. Peter's Square on Sunday. King Charles, who is 76, was briefly hospitalized on March 27 for the treatment of a type of cancer diagnosed over a year ago, which has not been disclosed. The King was seen waving to his supporters in central London the next day and has continued with his scheduled activities since then.
